Template Fragments
« on: March 17, 2022, 09:26:30 pm »
Hi there,
I'm pretty new to Enterprise Architect and a bit confused by all the templates and template fragments.
Currently I'm working on a customized template for process documentation for my company but I just can't figure out what each template fragment is doing/changing in the final report/documentation.
Can anyone please explain me the differences between each of them (in terms of content) or tell me a website where I can find it?

Thank you very much in advance :)

The best way to use templates is to start from scratch.

Don't try to recycle existing standard templates; you'll go mad.

If your company already has customized templates, I'll guess you better ask the author of those templates.

Unfortunately we don't have any templates yet, that's why I am about to set up some customized ones.
But as EA is so extensive it's hard to learn and to understand the differences between every template. And for strarting from scratch you obviously need to have some knowledge and experience with the program.

Then start with the basics.
An empty template showing some of the details you need.

When you bump into the limitiations of a simple template, you'll need to figure out template fragments.

Alternatively, you can pay a consultant to do all of this for you.

Hello,
could you post a small "anonymized" sample of your model and what you expect the output will look like?
We are developing a document generator for EA called RepoDoc (https://repodoc.archimetes.com)
I'd like to learn more about your case to know if we can handle it in RepoDoc.
Kind regards,
Jan
