Is it still supposed to be true that 64 bit EA cannot access EAPX files?

I have installed the 64 bit version (build 1605) and can both open and create EAPX files. I'm wondering if will it continue to do so. I want to recommend that we change to EA16, but given that I have in the past found issues in new versions and had to revert to a previous one, don't really want at some point in the near future to be forced to convert project file types.

The release notes for 1605 state "The 64bit Professional edition no longer stops the opening of .EAPX repositories", but I am using the Corporate version.

Professional is the lowest edition. I guess that higher ones are also no longer limited. A guess, though.

One solution around this is to use V16 and navigate to "Settings->Transfer->Migrate EAP/EAPX to QEA". Run the process on the older repository and viola! Now V16 can open the transferred repo.
Otherwise, unfortunately if there is indeed a need to keep the repo in EAPX, then V16 will not work.

That's not my experience - as I stated, using the latest 1605 build, I can open an EAPX model in V16. I was surprised given previous comments that this did not work.

In my experience, EA 16 performs a conversion. If you want to be able to use an EAP file between users with EA15 and EA16 i suggest installing Pro cloud server, and setting the EAP file up as a shared repository. Its pretty simple to share a model from a desktop system using this.
If you go this route, make sure to limit access to the EAP file, so that only PCS can access it.

Last I remember, it was still possible if you install the 64 bit version of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable

It's a stopgap approach at best, but that's probably the situation Pete is in.
