Extended ports not allowing realizing relationship

We have an MDG that extended ports, drawing them using their native shape. When we use them in diagrams we have noticed that when drawing information flows the  'Add Realizing Relationship' checkbox is disabled. Has anybody also experience this issue and know how to solve it?

We are still using Sparx EA v15.

I would guess you stumbled over some hardcoded piece in EA's guts. You probably should send a bug report - or mail support to get a confirmation that you will have a bad day.
