Compartment Visibility not working for a Process element
« on: June 02, 2023, 08:34:59 am »
Hi,

I am using Process elements in a basic data flow diagram, trying to specify Requirements and Constraints for each process, and would like to display those compartments in the diagram. (EA v15.2)

The EA User Guide says that compartment visibility should work for elements using rectangular notation. The default shape of the Process element is a circle; I tried selecting "Enable Info View" but that doesn't show the compartments I need (only shows Notes by default). Can't figure out if the element shape is the problem.

To test things out, I got compartment visibility to work for other element types in my diagram (at diagram level and element level), but not Processes. I'm assuming I can define requirements and constraints for a given process...and display them?

If the problem is due to this element type or shape, are there other suggestions for displaying requirements/constraints for a process?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I can think of multiple profiles that have a "Process" element, so I can't say anything definitive.

Most profiles that use a custom appearance do not offer an option for rectangle notation. There is an option in EA 16 to disable shape scripts for a diagram that I would expect to allow the elements to have a rectangle notation. Unfortunately I don't think there's anything equivalent in EA 15.2.

Thanks Eve.

So are there other ways to "extract" the element's compartment values for depiction in a diagram or otherwise?? (I.e., how to access/show those values?)

Or, if rectangle notation is what I need in order to display the compartments, I suppose I could use another type instead of Process type, but I'd prefer not having to redo all my existing Process elements. Any advice?

Thanks much,
Kae
