How model a transformation of information?
« on: February 15, 2024, 01:24:29 am »
  • You are about to import information from another organisation and have created a model of that information.
  • You have your own information model and want to describe which foreign attributes you want to import, and in which attributes in your own model you want to put them.
How do you model that transformation?

In some activity I would think. But "transformation" is a vague definition of what you might intend.

Leverage data mapping tools or software to visually represent the transformation. These tools can help illustrate the relationships between foreign and local attributes, making the mapping process more intuitive.

We use my EA Mapping add-in: https://bellekens.com/ea-mapping/

I've also seen examples where link to element feature relations are used.

Thanks Geert! I had a short glimpse of the web page of the Bellekens EA Toolpack a while ago but had forgotten about it. The EA Mapping add-on seems to be just the right tool!
