EA in Citrix
« on: December 09, 2024, 09:11:32 pm »
Hello guys,

I have a question regarding Citrix. Is is possible to insert EA client to Citrix servers?
Our vendor told os some time ago , that it is not possible (don't know why)

Some users, which are not using EA so much doesn't need to have the software installed on their computer
and some users are Mac OS users which would appreciate this alternative.

We are using floating licences for 24h so I hope that can fit to it.

thanks for any hints

Hi,
When Cisco bought a company that was using SQL based EA, they forced them to use a Cisco based infrastructure for the model.
We made a big effort to use a Citrix based solution, but it failed. As this was over 10 years ago, I don't remember on what aspect it failed.
I think the Citrix environment used Oracle only, for the DB.

We went over to a SVN based solution using eap files.

Sincerely,
Shimon
P.S. We needed to do some Add-in programing to solve various problems arising from the discrepancies between the eap files and the SVN status of locks.

Yes, this is very much possible.
I have a couple of client who are providing EA though Citrix.

EA is is only a client, so that is not related to the backend. Most of my clients are on SQL Server.
Version control works better with TFS (SVN is a bit clunky)

thank you guys for hints.
We have our configuration in MySQL DB and if I got you right, this can be feasible, we will give it a try (maybe I will have additional questions later )

We are using Aparx EA v16 & v 17 in Citrix for users that dont use Sparx EA often. Creating Word & HTMl reports etc.
About 100 local installed Sparx EA client and about 15 Citrix users with MS-SQL backed, all using same Floating Corporate licens pool
