Custom Document import Word doc: image display issue
« on: September 25, 2025, 07:50:47 pm »
Hi,
Working on a custom document in EA, I imported the client's Word template to initialize the static content & styles.
Whilst most images are rendered without any problem, I have an image that appears ok initially until I  reopen the Custom Doc: the image appears with a black background.
It appears to be an issue with some transparent images similarly to the bug when doing a copy/paste of a diagram with transparent images.
I'm using EA 17.1 latest build.

That old chesnut of a problem aye? You could try changing clipboard format from metafile to bitmap. IIRC that fixed it for me with transparent backgrounds but its been a while since I had that problem. Other things you could experiment with are are rendering [Basic|Enhanced-1| Enhanced-2].
As last resort save the image and edit the background to be white instead of transparent then import it back into Sparx EA.
I've stopped using the image library and now use image assets. Not sure if that mechanism helped with this particular problem as it was so long ago.
Happy to help
:)

In this case, the image is not used on a diagram, but as a static one within a Custom Document, copied from a PNG file.
I submitted it as a bug.
