ODBC or OLE connection
« on: April 03, 2014, 05:56:28 am »
Hello -

I've installed an Oracle DB backend for our EA Team environment.  We essentially have two ways of connecting to the DB - installing and connecting through an ODBC driver and using the Oracle OLE provider.

Does anyone know why I would choose one over the other?

Thanks for your help,
Tim B.

I've used the OLE provider in the past.

In my testing prior to rollout I have used both.  The question is, why should I choose one over the other or does it matter?

In the end, I chose OLE because I didn't have to worry about users installing an ODBC driver which also seemed like an unnecessary intermediary.

More comments, please.
