drag and drop auto instance not working
« on: September 18, 2004, 04:28:00 pm »
I am trying to drag and drop an object from the Business Process model onto a Robustness diagram. However, I cannot get it to create a new instance. In the tools-options-diagram-behaviors, I have the auto instance unchecked. I have tried both checking and not checking this and also have tried holding down the Ctrl key, but nothing is working. I dont get the auto instance alert message either?

Anybody ran into this before?

Thanks for your help!

If you wrote correctly that you are trying to create an instance of an *object*, then that is the problem. You can't instance objects, only classes. Objects are already instances.

Thanks for your help. I thought that you could drag and drop the object on to the diagram and create a NEW instance of it, in this case my new instance would be saved as an entity.  Though apparently I am going about it the wrong way!

thanks!

If you are trying to copy an object on the same diagram then ctl-C, shift-ctl-V is about the quickest - It even asks nicely for the new instance name, which you can leave blank if desired.

Otherwise just ctl-dragging the class from the tree to the diagram creates a new instance (or I thought it did?)
