Only one copy of an element per diagram

I have an activity diagram with swimlanes and I would like to do the same activity in multiple swimlanes. This appears to be impossible in the current version (5.00.767).
Can anyone suggest a work around?

You probably have to place them as object copies on the diagram. Imay be wrong, but having the class appearing twice does not seem to make much sense ???
