Newbie question_Timer in Sequence Diagram
« on: October 26, 2006, 04:30:46 am »
Hi all,

When I draw Sequence Diagram, I see there is no timer symbol like that:

__
\ /
/_\

to set timer and stop it.
Does EA have timer symbols and where I can find it?

Thanks in advance.

Try Recieve element from Activity Toolbox. From its context menu pick Advanced/Accept Time Event.

Thanks for your reply, Jan.
However, when I drag the Receive symbol into the current Sequence Diagram, it becomes the Event1 rectangle box instead of the usual shape in Activity diagram. I change it to Accept Time Event. But it changes nothing.

If I do this in Activity diagram, it works. So, do you know what I need to do to have a timer symbol like the one in your picture in Sequence diagram?

Thanks so much

The interaction in sequence diagram does not allow using this.
The messages are not sent by time object, but a real entity. When it is sent is a different thing. Thing of using Seguence Expressions in Message properties.

I think what you need to use for a sequence diagram is a message end point (Black circle) as this annotates an external message.  If you want to make it clear that this is a timer event you can add an attached note.
