Package behavior after dragging elements
« on: August 27, 2010, 11:39:35 pm »
I see a issue with Package. When some elements are created inside package in a diagram, those won't appear inside package in the browser and manually we need to drag those inside package in the browser.
This manual dragging create a new issue, it shows a new icon in the diagram on that package, which again need to hide.

Is this the issue with EA tool? Is there any way to avoid this, I mean whenever I create any new element inside package in diagram it should come in that package in browser too.

Shridar,

If you create elements in a diagram they will be owned by the owner of the diagram, regardless of their position on the diagram.
(True in most cases, user interface diagrams are (on of the) exceptions)

I don't believe this is an issue.

Geert,

I agree with you regarding the ownership of the elements. I am facing some different issue, e.g. in a component diagram drag a package and then drag a component inside package. In the diagram component is showing inside package but in browser it is showing outside of package which needs to be manually dragged inside package in the browser for grouping purpose. This leads to a new icon (which is beacuse of dragging of component in the browser) on the package in diagram area. Is this default behavior for package and is it valid? This behaviour is not there for other elements.

You can turn that behavior on/off for packages. (something like show contents, I'm not sure anymore where exactly)
