BPMN subprocess collapse/expand
« on: August 18, 2011, 06:42:24 pm »
Hi,

do you know if the EA supports somehow collapse and expand effect somehow? When I create a sub-process, it's collapsed (the plus symbol at the bottom appears). But it's not possible to "jump in" the same way how it's in the case of Business Process.

I solve the situation by including new diagram and elements into the sub-process so when I want to see the inner work-flow of it, I simply check the embedded diagram. But is there any better way to handle content of sub-processes?

Thanks
Best regards,
Jan

Jan,

Look for "Make Composite" in the help file.

Hi Guys,
I think I am looking for a simmilar solution.
1) I have a base process called generate order, which is a mapping of creating the order. It doesn't have any compoite activities.
2) I want to create an activity that I can use simmilar to predefine actors, that I will want to use as swimlanes or in the digram. Meaning, I have defiend it once and can use it in multiple ways.
3) what would I need to do, if I want to include this activity as a composite activity in a higher level disagram? What I want to achive is, that when I double click on the composit diagram, it should open the base process flow called generate order.
How can I do this? I have seen it. Its possible. I have asked the preson who did it, but he can't remember who he has done it!

any hints please!

1) What is the question?
2) Use pools/lanes and instantiate with the actor
3) Move the desired diagram (which shall open on dbl-click) inside the element. Make the element composite (context menu). Move the diagram back to where it was. (This is a hack but it's usual to do things like that in EA.)

How would you export a diagram to XMI? you can only export packages.

OK. You should report that as a bug to Sparx. See bottom lines of this page. Provide the XMI so they can reproduce the bug.
