cvs issues

cvs usage notes: EA supports cvs for model management, but READ THIS HARD-WON KNOWLEDGE:

"... It all works if the cvs.exe from Tortoise (2.0.62.1817) is used, as you indicated. This probably will solve your other client's issues too. CVSNT version 2.5.02.2088 does not work stably. It MAY however if the repository is also CVSNT of the same vintage. When one end is cvs on Linux and one end is CVSNT, the combination with Tortoise is the only one that operates.

Incidentally, it appears that 2.0.62.1817 is the last or one of the last releases before the CVSNT 2.5x series. There is a release history page at www.cvsnt.org somewhere.

Also, so you know, an alternate cvs .exeexecutable can be specified for WinCVS in the Admin/Preferences/CVS dialog. THere, I have successfully pointed the application at the Tortoise version. Also, NB, I had to hack the PATH for the workstation to NOT point at the bad CVSNT version 2.5..02.2088 - now points at the TortoiseCVS home directory. Thus, EA can find it."

TortoiseCVS can be found at TortoiseCVS.org

An easier way to change which CVS client EA will use, is to specify the full path name of the client, eg. "C:\Program Files\TortoiseCVS\cvs.exe", in the field "CVS exe path" in the Version Control Configurations dialog.
