BPMN Event Triggers

Has anyone worked out how to set the trigger for an event - these change the icon and include rule, message, signal, exception.  End events have types of error , cancel, compenstation, signal,terminate, multiple etc.

Hi Paul,

It's one of those things that is obvious, but only after you already know...

Open the Tagged Values window (try the View menu) and select your event. You'll see values you can set. Once you've done this the event will redraw itself.

This theme is repeated throughout the BPMN add-in. That's how you get the rest of the element types.

This was a rather obscure point even when BPMN was a separate add-in. I think it was overlooked when BPMN was 'absorbed' into the core product in EA 7.0.

There'd been talk of a newer BPMN add-in - it might have been completely internal, but for a time it sounded like it would also be published as an MDG Technology file - that was to come sometime after 7.0 debuted. I assumed - to the extent I thought about it at all - that much of the mystery would be cleared up then.

In the latest version of the EA Help, there is a page on BPMN 1.4 that identifies this very point. You should see it shortly in the Beta 2 release.

However, there is more extensive explanation in the Help for the MDG Technology for BPMN 1.3, which you can display if you have installed that Add-In and you select the Add-Ins | BPMN | Help menu option.
