Version Control (CVS) and EA error "Ability to Im"
« on: March 20, 2008, 10:14:01 am »
"Ability to Import is currently locked by user ..." (me).   SQL Server database, with CVS version control out (stubs in DB).  In another project attached to the version-controlled packages and made some changes. Put Latest.  Could not get SQL version to refresh properly with changes.  Eventually deleted the branches in SQL server and did a "Get Package".  Gives me the error at the beginning - Ignore causes it to go on without terminating in finite time.   Kill/restart EA and Data Management check for  errors comes back clean.

Anybody have any suggestions.   So far this is "test" data so no blood yet......

Thanks in advance.

You'll get this error message whenever an import process is part way through and you attempt another one.  Since you know that you killed the previous import and you're not importing any XMI into the model it's fairly safe to ignore.  From there it won't do anything different to a normal XMI import.

If you can, it would be worth sending the XMI file into sparx systems support.  Before you do, try importing it into an empty eap file.  If that doesn't work try doing a data transfer to an eap file to check if that will produce the error, in that case it would probably be of most use to include the xmi and eap file zipped up.

If you still can't reproduce the error using the eap file after the data transfer, we'll see if there's any other suggestions then.
