Relationship Matrix Profiles not in version ctrl
« on: July 08, 2008, 08:02:34 pm »
Hi,
We use Visual Source Unsafe as the version control repository with EA7.0 Professional.

Our packages under source control are just like the rest of EA under VSS, some XML file that contains the controlled package.

In my design I have created a PROFILE for the relationship matrix of my package, basically it maps the Use cases of THIS package to the requirements of THIS package.

The idea was that our team-mates abroad could view the model and select the profile and view the matrix as I had defined it.

Well, I checked-in my package into source control and did a get latest on the PC of my colleague. To my surprise when I looked at Resources the profile was not showing :( I then went into the Relationship Matrix view in hopes that I could view the one I had defined for this package and.... NOTHING.

The (remote) user has to manually create the entire profile again (which can be error prone).

Apparently EA fails to save this profile information into the XMI. For that matter it would also be nice if one could define "Standard" profiles (saved in the XMI under version control) and "Local" profiles that are only kept in your local copy of the project.

At the moment though it seems I will have to write a WIKI to let our colleagues see how the envisioned matrix can be viewed on their local copy.
