Build 831 not rendering text under CrossOver Linux

Hi all,

I've installed the patch to update my EA to build 3.1 and now I have a problem with some text not rendering properly. Notes are displayed empty, though the text is in the model. Similarly business processes and Activities are displayed empty. All was fine under the previous build I had installed - is this just me or has anyone else come up against it? Any clues on fixing it? I'm on FC6, using CrossOver 6.0.

Hi Paddy,

Have you sent in a bug report yet? You should do so immediately since Sparx, being in the Land of Aus, will be doing the Friday shift 'tonight.' You'll want to bring this to their attention before the weekend in case they have a workaround.

Use the Report a Bug link near the bottom of any forum page. You should also paste in the URL to this forum thread so they can post back any answer where we can all see it. For that matter, if you get a direct reply from Sparx please post back here to enlighten the rest of us.

Just to make sure.  You haven't accidentally installed the standard windows version have you?

Had a reply from support this morning - the mistake I made was to try to upgrade by unzipping the Build831 zip file. Under Linux, you need to do a full install upgrade (the installer helpfully offers to uninstall the earlier version) after which all is good.

Thanks for posting back with the solution. On (re)reading the download page, this point is not clear. The Linux installation information certainly requires a dedicated page, which the download page points you to. On quickly scanning the Linux instructions I got the impression that a full install is required, but I did not see - at least not prominently displayed - anything that would warn me not to use a patch file.

The main download page does not seem to warn that the patch file is only for native Windows installations.

Perhaps you would send a bug report - yes I could do this myself, but this is another of my subtle (ha!) attempts to train others to do this - directly to Sparx. Just click the Bug Report link below the Support link near the bottom of any forum page (you don't need to be a registered user). You should paste in the URL of this forum thread so the Sparxians can quickly pick up the rest of the context here.
