Importing a database schema via ODBC
« on: July 30, 2008, 10:54:01 pm »
Hi there,
I'm a new user of Enterprise Architect, trying (and currently failing) to import a database schema from a development box (which contains an export of the schema in question but no actual data).  When I try to import via ODBC in EA, I can connect to the box but can't see any of the tables in the schema to select and import.  Is this most likely to be a problem with EA settings, ODBC settings or or settings in the database/schema itself?  I'm certainly no DBA...  Cheers

Ben

What DBMS version and product are you using? And what client software?

Others have reported similar problems from time to time. To my (intermittent) memory this symptom often occurs with Oracle, but I don't know if it is more common there or what.

While you're waiting for a solution. search the forum for other cases - use the Oracle hint - since you should find several posts indicating how it was resolved. [I just don't remember; not having had the problem myself I have not retained the details.]

If you do find something please post back here to let us know. That will make it easier for others who might stumble over the same problem.

No, you can't have it!
