Problems with importing EMX files
« on: July 31, 2008, 12:21:29 am »
We want to use EA as modeling tool in our project. Prerequisite is sucessful import of the model that was created in IBM RSM (v7.0.5).
I tried the import in EA7.0 Corporate and also in tial version of EA7.1, but the import wasn't sucessful and the result was same.
Only few EMX models was imported and for rest of the models the empty unnamed package was created.
Root Model
  IC-ITM
  IC7-PRJ
  Package
  Package
  ...
Our model is quite complex 39 EMX models with a lot of references between models.
Log file doesn't contain any error message indicating problem except few "Error: Unknown Dependency Source or Target" entries.
I see from log file that only few modeling objects and diagrams was imported.

Can you help me with this problem?

Have you tried importing multiple times?

EA has problems importing stuff with links to packages not yet imported.

When we import sections of our model, we have to import twice - and occasionally 3 times.

Hi, I found the problem. There are lot of duplicate IDs in EMX files. If I used project in EA file the import failed without message. If I tried to import into SQL server repository, the error message was displayed.
I wil try now to recreate IDs in RSM and I will try to import the model again.
