Strange procedure to repair/compact an EAP file
« on: November 10, 2008, 08:13:37 pm »
There is a strange procedure to repair or compact an EAP file (Tools > Manage .EAP File).
First you must open an EAP project, but a different one - not the project you plan to repair or compact.
Now you can repair/compact your project.
Finally, close the opened project and open your repaired/compacted project.

Is it possible to activate the repair/compact operations in the menu when no project is open?

Using EA 7.1.833:

Hello,

I use EA 7.1.833 and I can compact the EAP file that I'm working on.
It seems that it is not mandatory to open another EAP file to compact one first EAP file.
Hope it's helpful.

The behavior of this feature appears to be inherited from Access. Not surprising, since the Jet (i.e. Access) engine performs the actual work.
No, you can't have it!
