Enterpise Architect fails to start until reboot

When I close EA (normally or due to some sporadic odd behavior) and try to restart it a few seconds, minutes or hours later, I often get the following message box:

Titel: EA
Message text: Failed to create empty document.
Buttons: Ok

This comes up immediately after showing the splash screen. No application window appears. After closing this box, EA does not start anymore. Also several retries show the same message.

The only way I found to get EA running again, is to reboot my Windows XP.

I currently use EA 7.5, but it also happened with older versions.

What can I do? Is there a faster way to get EA running again?

Is there any chance you have an add-in that is not releasing references to EA?
