New Note already filled in
« on: August 28, 2009, 10:52:51 pm »
When I add a new Note to a diagram it is already filled in.
It has a text and a non-standard color. (red)
Looks like there is some sort of default for new notes, but I don't seem to remember having an option to change the default for notes to include text.
This only happens on one model, for all users, so it is definitely something model based.
Anyone ever experienced the same? (or even better, knows the solution?)

Thanks

Geert

I just deleted the original default note, hoping this would stop the annoying behaviour, but now the next note I created has become the default (meaning that the text in the new note is now copied in every new note.)

Then I found the option Settings/Template Package, and indeed it was set to the package where the "default note" was located.
Now I just have to figure out how to unset the template package (because I don't want any package to be a template package)

There's a one-line note [sorry, I couldn't resist] at the bottom of the EA help entry for Template | Package, Setting. According to EA help you open the Browse Project dialog (via Settings | Template Package from the EA main menu) and set the default template package to <none> to clear the setting.

Note that EA does not seem to highlight the current setting. [At least not when there is no template package. That is, if there is no current template package set, the <none> setting is not highlighted. Worse yet, another item is highlighted. IMHO a bug. What say?
No, you can't have it!

You are right indeed, I did not RTFM. I didn't know what to look for (Template Package) at first, and when I finally found it I was able to solve my problem by selecting the root model as template package.
Now that I checked it again I see the <none> package. Before this was not easely spotted since the model tree was expanded and the dummy <none> package is (not conveniently) located at the bottom of the tree.
Who designed this dialog anyway? Deselecting an option by selecting a non existing package with the name "<none>" in the model tree? WTF! If one of my designers came up with such an idea I would smack him to the head >:(
To add insult to injury the dialog isn't even working like it should (showing the wrong package when opening the dialog).
Definitely a bug.
