Template editor crash and burn
« on: September 24, 2009, 01:09:46 am »
In the template editor, when attempting to define list levels for a list override (which is, I must say, implemented in a very clunky and confusing way), EA invariably crashes when trying to set several list levels without closing the dialog in between each list level being edited (it sometimes crashes even if it is closed between edits).

BTW - I am using an Access 2007 repository (which isn't on the "Repository Type" dropdown list on the bug reporting page), if that makes any difference.

BTW again: I'm using EA Ultimate Edition, 7.5 Build 848.

Hi Fred,

Do you mean an .EAP file created from .accdb  MS Access file or from a .MDB file accessed using Access 2007?

I tried yesterday to do the former and couldn't get it to be recognised.  The latter I use all the time.

TIA,
Paolo

Hi Paolo,

The repository is in an .accdb file created by 1) Creating the repository as an .EAP file, then 2) Importing and "upgrading" the .EAP file in Access 2007 to an .accdb file. The .accdb file is then accessed (no pun intended!) in EA as a server-based repository using "Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider" as the OLE DB provider and the file name (full path) as the data source.

BTW - I've not tried this with .EAP files in Access, but you can add your own non-EA tables, queries, and VBA modules to the .accdb file without messing up EA (at least I haven't YET messed up EA). Note that the repository experiencing the crash has no non-EA stuff in it.

Best Regards,
Fred
