Model search RTF report for child elements
« on: July 12, 2010, 05:50:18 pm »
Hi
I have an issue for the rtf report generator and version 8.0(build 856):

I've created a model document where I specify to search for a bookmarked element (it is a requirement with child requirements); the rtf template specifies to generate the documentation for the element and the child elements.

In version 7.5 everything works fine, in version 8.0 , the child elements are not reported in the rtf.

Note that the rtf template works fine when applied to a package both in 7.5 and 8.0

Any suggestion or workaround?
Many thanks
Davide

Trying to find a workaround, I've discovered another bug:

I've created a diagram in a package; in the diagram I report a link to the bookmarked element of my previous message; I set the option "Include all diagram elements in report" when generating the rtf from the package (in the template, the package.element and package.diagram.element are selected; moreover, the child elements and child packages options are selected).

The result is that in the rtf I only get the top level element but not its children.

Hi Davide,

Have you done a search of the forum using the [Search] between [Help] and [My Center] buttons above?

I believe there was a change in the way children of packages are handled in version 8 versus previous versions.  Also check the release notes - there may have been some changes after 856 in this area.

HTH,
Paolo

Thanx Paolo
Ye I've done it.. I've seen that there have been some modifications in 8.0 concerning packages treatment by I assume (maybe I'm wrong) that this is not the cause for my problems...

Unfortunately our support year just expired, so it would be great to know whether in the last release these issues have been solved.. then we can think about renewing the support license...

Another bug for this series...

1.In 8.0 (build 860), I search for a word in the element's stereotype
2.I get 3 elements as search result; one of them has sub-elements
3.I select all the elements in the search result and select Documentation-RTF Report on selected items: the reports documents the 3 elements but not the sub-elements
3.1 if I select documentation-RTF report for each selected item, I get 3 documents and in the doc for the element with sub-elements I get all of them.

In 7.5 everything works fine.

Does anybody need to document selected elements with sub-elements out there?
Thanx
D
