Make Model Default - Busted?
« on: August 17, 2010, 02:11:40 pm »
This fiddly business of 'Make Model Default' does not work in my v8 build 860 on Win 7. Is anyone aware if it has stopped working for some reason?

EA keeps opening the same diagram and nothing I do seems to get it to stop opening the diagram it wants, and open a different diagram that I want. I have followed the instructions above.

Just thinking about this - would there not be a way better way to define which diagram will open automatically by default when I open a .eap model?

As in 'right click' + select 'make model default' from context menu -- or even 'open this diagram automatically when opening this model'

Perhaps?

It's possible that the diagram you keep getting has been set as a user default, which overrides the model default. This is explained in the Make User Default menu option description, just above the one you quote.

I have, however, added a comment to the Make Model Default option description to explain the point too. It would have been a more logical place to have the explanation in the first place - sorry about that.
Best Regards, Roy

One (or more) default diagrams or views can also be specified to open when loading the model via a special shortcut file.  See:
http://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/projects_and_teams/capture_current_work_environme.html

This also overrides any "Model Default" setting.
