Transparency in icon images?

I would like to use an image with transparency information as an alternate image for an actor element in a use case diagram. I have tried using png, emf and tga versions, but the background of the image is always displayed as black (instead of transparent).

The transparency is in all of these images, Windows, GIMP and my icon editor display the transparency without problems.

Using EA 8.0 Corporate Edition on Windows 7 64bit.

EA doesn't currently support transparency on bitmap type alternate images.  (It does for metafiles)
