Disable anti-aliased fonts in Toolbar and panes?

Hi,

I've just bought a new license of EA. I've used an older version at a previous company and loved it. This latest version that I just bought has anti-aliased fonts in the toolbars and some of the panes.
I really hate AA fonts and I'm wondering if I can disable these in any way. I've checked the options dialog but didn't find anything that seemed likely.

Note, I've found the option of disabling AA fonts in the diagrams themselves but this is not what I want to do. I want do disable it from the GUI itself.

Anyone got any ideas?

You won't find an option for that in EA, it's nothing to do with EA.  You'll need to find the option in Windows itself.

Does it have something to do with ClearType?
I've found this link to microsoft that might be of help.

Thanks for the replies.

No this is definitely an issue with Enterprise Architect. I'm running Windows XP and I don't have ClearType enabled for the default Windows font i.e. the fonts for the menu bar, context menus, button text, etc.

In EA the anti-aliasing only occurs for the menu bar, title for the toolbox windows and such. There's no anti-aliasing in the dialogs, in the standard controls (tree views, list boxes etc).

I know EA is using some kind of library for the menu bars, not sure if it is this library that has AA enabled by default or if it can even be disabled.

If anyone has any input, I'll be glad to hear.

I raised this point on another thread a few months back.  I can't stand AA fonts either.  It looks terrible on Windows 7 in Classic Mode.  I won't upgrade to version 8 until this is resolved.  Hardcoding the font seems like an oversight but most of the EA screenshots seem to be using all AA types anyway so maybe the Sparx developers haven't noticed the inconsistency yet on Windows XP in classic mode.

Ok...sad to see that it still seems to be unresolved. If I had known I would have gladly paid the same amount of money just for an older version without the terrible AA font rendering.

Again, I just love EA, best diagramming tool I've used, but I just hate AA fonts.

Just a side note, I'm not running Classic mode, just plain vanilla Windows XP styles.

My guess is that the third-party library for the toolbar and toolboxes has these enabled by default or they hardcoded into the library or EA. Probably easy to fix, but maybe we are just too few who doesn't fully appreciate AA to motivate the change
