XMI Import Failure
« on: December 01, 2010, 06:14:09 pm »
When trying to import the BMM XMI from the OMG - http://www.omg.org/cgi-bin/doc?dtc/2007-08-05 - I see a message to say the import failed.

The log file doesn't indicate the source of the problem:

Importing Model from XMI
Root Package:
Resolving Classifiers
Resolving Owners
Resolving Attribute Types
Resolving Parameter Types
Resolving Association-Classes
Resolving InteractionOccurences
Fixup external references
Import Complete!

The XMI file itself has the following beginning:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xmi:XMI xmlns:xmi="http://schema.omg.org/spec/XMI/2.1" xmlns:cmof="http://schema.omg.org/spec/MOF/2.0/cmof.xml" xmi:version="2.1">
<cmof:Package xmi:uuid="http://www.omg.org/spec/BMM" name="BMM" xmi:id="_4ed88761-e311-4610-b784-a7844fd044e5" uri="http://www.omg.org/spec/BMM">

I would really appreciate some help with working out what is going on here!!

Holster,

I'm sorry, but EA doesn't like metamodels, so you won't be able to import a MOF model.
I had the same issue a while ago and I found a workaround. I used StarUML (free open source UML tool) to import the xmi, then exported it back to xmi and imported it into EA.
I've done this for the UML MOF model, and you can download the result from the community site.
