Refresh links in MS Word 2007 to RTF documents
« on: December 24, 2010, 01:38:55 am »
Hi,

I have a MS Word 2007 document and I wish to create an "Insert as link" to a diagram in EA. I'm able to created the link but MS Word fails to pick further changes to the RTF document.

I have ticked the "Update automatic links at open" option under Word Options : Advanced : General

I've done the following to create the link:

1. Object | Text from file...
2. File name: model.rtf
3. range... [copy RTF bookmark] of model object e.g. component diagram

Then I make some changes to the EA model and regenerate the RTF documentation. I close and re-open the MS Word document but the unchanged/original diagram is still shown.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or this is an MS Word version issue?

Thanks
Lino

Lino,

I haven't tried to get links to automatically refresh, and I could see how this could cause problems if you maintain versions of your Word documents.

The method I use in Word is: Ctrl-A, F9.

Ctrl-A selects the entire document (except headers and footers grrrrr.)
F9 Updates all the links, table of contents etc.

Does that help?
