RefGUID & RefGUIDList  return stereotype
« on: January 28, 2011, 03:45:22 pm »
Anyone else have an issue with RefGUID and RefGUIDList returning the stereotype as part of the name when visible in the UI?   This is both on the Tagged Values window and (more importantly in my view) in the tags compartment of the element on the diagram.

I can't really see the point (of displaying the stereotype name).  It also (especially in the case of a RefGUIDList - where there may be many entries) can take up a lot of precious screen real estate.

Should I report a bug?  At a minimum I feel it should be controllable on a per-tagged value basis.
[edit]The RefGUID Tagged Value Type was designed as a replacement for the (now deprecated) Classifier Tagged Value Type.  Replacing RefGUID in the definition with Classifier will generate the unadorned name.  So it looks like an oversight to me...[/edit]

Paolo,

I can confirm the mentioned behavior, but it has never bothered me. (I also never used the classifier type of tagged value, it has always been like that for me)

In the tagged values EA shows the stereotype (which from my point of view does not make sense but it also doesn't bother me too much).

When displaying the value in a shape script, EA only shows the value (which is what I want).

[edit:] Sometimes EA shows the GUID itself in the shape script instead of its element's name. I've opened a support case for that.
