Unable to transfer project DBMS to EAP (906)
« on: May 27, 2011, 08:19:18 am »
Version 906. I have set up a project transfer DBMS to EAP, sourece SQL Server connection tests OK,
target EAP opens OK,
log file allocated.

When I click on Transfer nothing happens (no error, no nothing), log file remains empty.

Anyone else seen an issue like this?

Which driver are you using to connect to SQL server?
In my experience this only works when using SQLOLEDB.1 (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server).
Your provider is MSDASQL.1 which google reveals to be the generic Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC.

Interesting, thank you

I referred to
http://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/8.0/projects_and_teams/connecttosqlserver.html

According to my ODBC Data Source Administrator the driver is "SQL Server Native Client 10.0) for the source database.
In fact I can't see the driver you mention listed in the list available when setting up a connection, I will have to investigate further,
perhaps this is a new problem with 9.0,
you might think it would work with the "native driver".

Hi Skiwi,

I can confirm Geert's observation.  I'm using project transfer (under both v8 and v9) from SQL Server 2005 to MSA 2000 EAP (under XP and MSA 2007 - or 2003)(about 250Mb) and the connection uses the SQLOLEDB.1 driver.  Works fine.  Takes about 15mins to transfer.

However, I DID have problems with EAPs under MSA 2002 - the EAP file was screwed afterward.  I can provide more details if anyone is interested.
