Diagram filters using tagged values
« on: May 27, 2011, 04:02:11 pm »
Hi all,

I want to use tagged values to mark e.g. a button or a combobox in a user interface diagram that was added e.g. because of a change request. Later I would like to see only those changes and therefore I would like to display only the newly added objects.

Does anyone know if it is possible use diagram filters to do this? Or are there any other good ideas?

Thanks,

nueltz

I've been trying to use the filters through the rft documentation to do this. Filtering on a tagged value and on an element value. In theory this should work.

The problem is that the filtering does not appear to work. It looks like its filtering using "or" instead of "and"

Wondering if anyone else has tried this and found a way to force a required multi-filter to work.

Hi,
I also wanted to filter diagrams by the elements tag.
unfortunatlly, I found that the diagram's filter does not work with tags.
maybe a sparx Representative can help us solve the issue?maybe suggest another way to filter by tags?!

Thanks I wasnt sure if I was setting it up wrongly. Its not just the tags that dont work, even filtering on elements does not work. I might log a bug or something as this is quite frustrating.

I put in a call to the support people and got a reply saying that this is a bug in version 8.0.864 and that it is fixed in the current release 9.0.906. You can download the new release at:

I do not see tagged values in Digram Filter dialogue in v.9.0.907.
So, is diagram filtering with tagged values supported or not?

Thanks, Alex.

I dont think it was ever an option to filter diagrams by tagged value.
in any version..
but i do think there should be such an option, as we all wish to use tags in order to filter diagrams.
I once sent a suggestion to sparx, they answered it would be considered in the next version. so far, no changes in EA  :-?.

While not wanting to suggest that the request for filtering by tagged value is invalid,  to meet the requirement stated above, an option would be to create a filter and use the "Date created" or "Date modified" fields with an "After" or "Before" condition.
