MDG Technology Update Error

I am trying to update an existing installed MDG Technology.  However when I install the MDG Technology over the top of the existing one, I get lots of options to overwrite the existing profiles, but they do not update.  The only way I can get it to work is to delete the Technology and then import the update as new.  However this then means that all my diagrams are now orphaned from the technology diagram type.

This is happening on two distinct deployments, both using EA8 but one using MySQL and the other SQL Server as storage.

Is this a bug or is there something I dont know?

What do you mean by installing the MDG Technology. It seems you import the technology in the EAP file. This is not neccessary. Just copy the new over the old file.

I install the MDG using Tools | MDG Technology Import.  We have over 20 users working off a SQL Server repository.  It is impractical to install the file for each update on everyones machine.  By importing it into the database it applies to everyone but doesnt update properly.

Thanks.  Have indeed done this in the end, by placing the MDG file on a network drive.  But it meant reassigning all the models to the Diagram Type since it doesnt seem to preserve it, and also have to enter the settings on every machine.  Took quite a time, but hopefully everyone is now working from the latest version.

We're using it this way (after we fell in the same trap as you in the beginning). Work's like a charm.

I still don't know why Sparx keeps that trap door open...
