EA.exe closes after startup.

Hello all:

I'm new to the forum and apologize if this topic has been covered already.  I just downloaded a trial copy of EA 9.2 and installed it on my WinXP system.

When I run EA, the application is never visible.  I noticed that in the process list, EA.exe runs for about 5 - 10 seconds before it closes.  Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Hi,

i had this a few month ago with the build 905, see link below:

I recognised some erros in the license.

Hint: Delete the Content of C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Sparx Systems\EA

while [Username] is your username :D

The the message should appear to create the connection to the license server/keyfile/whatever...

Looks like EA doesn't have an application data folder set up on my WinXP system.

Looks like that post was relative to Win7.

Yes and no,

the post and the older thread had both systems affected.

In WINXP you might look into:

C:\Documents and Settings\"User Name"\Application Data\Roaming\

While "User name" is your user name


Or shorter: use this: http://www.instantventrilo.com/support/ventrilo-server-open-appdata-xp.php?_set[language]=de

I encountered a similar behaviour on some XP systems when installing some EA Addins.

Installing some security and system updates for visual studio and XP (especially KB947738) worked for me.

Not sure if this applies to you too.
