Automatic link colors appearing and disappearing
« on: February 04, 2012, 12:52:27 am »
I use EA 7.5 and repository located on mysql database. When I work on diagrams sometimes a strange and useful functionality turns itself on. When it's on and I select an element connected to other elements on a diagram, EA automatically sets colors to all connections for the time of selection. I think it's green for outgoing and red for incoming and it depends on the direction of specific connector.

Does anyone knows how to make this coloring functionality permanent on how to turn it on and of and why does it switches on and off by itself?
I looked everywhere in options, settings, documentations and haven't found anything even similar to this.

Seems to me like some kind of bug. Please help.

I've found it.
If you select an element on diagram and press "L" or "ALT+L" then connectors are temporarily highlighted based on their direction attribute.
  • L - highlights stick only if you keep key down but it does not reset if you change selected element.
  • ALT+L - highlights stick until you select another element.
What I don't get is why sometimes it switches on and off by itself and when it does it behaves like I would keep pressing "L" key, when I don't.

So this issue is practically solved.

Cool, yet another hidden feature I didn't know about.
(who's bright idea was it to hide that feature behind the "L" key :-X)

The Alt-L thing is more of an L-Alt thing ;D
You have to first press L and then (while holding the L) press Alt.
Then you can release both keys and the colors stay visible.

Works for me - neat feature !

However I don't see it mentioned on the Keyboard Shortcuts section of the help - Roy ?
