General Board / Evaluation and Future of EA
« on: July 02, 2002, 07:31:21 am »
Hi again

After a month of evaluation, we have decided to buy some copies of EA. This product is showing great potential, although it has to mature in some areas. We would like to see a more robust database repository and better multi-user support, including version and source control at the OBJECT LEVEL (we are glad to see that this is coming in the next major release). I would also like to see a more consistent GUI, some times it's hard to find what you are looking for (maybe the GUI is another area you are improving in the next release?) When is the next major version of EA coming out? Is there a release roadmap that you can share with us?

Thanks for a great product!

General Board / Features and Requirements
« on: June 04, 2002, 07:41:26 am »
Hi again

Is it possible to create a new stereotype to document product features called "feature", assign a new metafile to it, and add it to the custom toolbar?

Can we create new attributes in the requirement object (or any other object) like "Risk" or "Effort", and define our own set of values (Hi, Med, Low, or anything else)? If yes, can we create reports using our new attributes as filters?

Thanks again

General Board / Licensing and Round trip engineering

Hi again

Here are some licensing questions we have for you:

When we buy your product, do we have to pay maintenance fees to get the new features? Once the SQL server data store is implemented, do we have to pay extra for the upgrade? How is your licensing scheme?

and another technical question:

Once you generate the code and start making changes to it (this question also applies to the database code and schema), how do you synchronize new changes in the diagrams to the code? We have tried from the code to the diagram (reverse) and works fine, but when the diagram changes and you try to synch the changes back to the code, it will try to overwrite the files. Any ideas if this can be done in a different way?

Thanks

Roger

General Board / Do you support this functionality?
« on: May 24, 2002, 02:00:46 pm »
Hi

We are evaluating your product, and it looks pretty good!!!
Before we continue, can you let us know if you support these features or if future support is considered?

- SQL Server project storage
- Suspect flags raised in linked requirements when a related requirement is changed
- Workgroup collaborations, how do you do that now?
- How big the project can get before the Access database collapses?

Do you have any documentation about best practices or suggestions for concurrent analysts/designers/develpers using your product?

Thanks
