It would be convenient to have the option to copy the class Notes field to the instance when making an instance of a class.

General Board / Re: CSV import of BPMN activities
« on: October 04, 2010, 07:08:49 pm »
I downloaded the importer. As far as I see, I'll just have to change the element type (class --> activity) and add the BPMN attributes as tagged values. I'll have a closer look at it.

Thank you!

General Board / CSV import of BPMN activities
« on: October 01, 2010, 10:42:44 pm »
I've got an excel list of BPMN activities which I have to import in EA 8.0. I fill the TYPE and STEREOTYPE fields in the CSV file with "Activity". However, when imported I do not have the BPMN attributes which are usually available as tagged values. I assume they are imported as plain UML activities.

I know that I can apply the BPMN activity type by dragging an activity from the toolbox on the activity element in the BPMN 1.1 diagramm. But as I've got hundreds of BPMN activities to import it would be nice to have it done directly by the import. Is there any field I have to set in the CSV file to get the activities imported as BPMN activities? Or can I apply the BPMN type to a range of activities?

Thanks for any suggestion.

General Board / Concatenate sub-process task flows (BPMN)
« on: January 09, 2010, 01:05:19 am »
We’re modelling processes through several levels of detail according TeleManagement Forum’s Application Note GB921U. We model the processes in EA 7.5 with BPMN 1.1 notation. Our approach is to define sub-processes (level x) which are reusable in different business use cases. To each sub-process we assign the corresponding task flow (level x+1) as composite. After having modelled all required sub-processes we are free to build the required business use cases as a flow of sub-processes (level x).
What we would like to do is to generate a more detailed diagram showing the end-to-end task flow (level x+1) of a business use case based on its sub-process flow (as each sub-process "has" its task flow as composite). In other words we would like to concatenate the task flows of the sub-processes. Is there any possibility to do this in EA or with a dedicated plug-in or any reporting method?
Thank you for any suggestion.

Bugs and Issues / Import of  BPMN 2.0 XML
« on: October 20, 2011, 06:39:24 pm »
I got a BPMN 2.0 XML file which was created (exported) by a partner with EA 9.1. I now want to import it to our EA 9.1 installation. I assumed that I have to import it through:

Project Browser --> Import/Export --> Import package from XMI file

Just after starting the import I get the error: "Unkown XMI Exporter or Version".

Question: Is there another way to import BPMN 2.0 XML files or isn't it possible at all to import those type of files in EA 9.1?

Bugs and Issues / BPMN 1.1 diagram printouts: Association Relations
« on: April 27, 2010, 12:20:21 am »
I installed EA V8. Routed association relations on BPMN diagrams are all additionally routed though the upper left corner of the printouts or saved wmf/emf files. The workaround I do: Save the diagram in tga format (better quality that jpg or gif), then print it from outside EA.
Printouts and saved diagrams with routed associations were correct with EA 7.5.
Did anyone make similar experiences?
Thank you for any feedback.

Bugs and Issues / Re: Export / import CSV file - hierachy lost
« on: May 01, 2009, 06:06:55 pm »
I downgraded EA to version 7.1 Buil 834 and the problem is solved. Seems that this behaviour is a bug in versions 7.5.

Bugs and Issues / Export / import CSV file - hierachy lost
« on: April 30, 2009, 10:38:25 pm »
I've got a problem preserving the hierarchy of component type objects while exporting/importing the owning package to/from a csv file. I also tested it with other object types and have the same problem.
EA version 7.5 Build:844, scenario:

1. I have a package "Components" containing component "A" which owns component "B" (nesting relation). I've modelled the nesting relation in the project browser (moving component "A" below package "Components" and component "B" below component "A").

2. I do an CSV export of the package "Components" preserving the hierarchy and including the subfolders
3. I do an import of the CSV file (without any mod
ifications) preserving hierarchy. After that, I lose the nesting relationship between component "A" and "B" in the model. The nesting relationship between package "Compoments" and component "A" remains.

Is this behaviour a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for any suggestions / solutions.
