I'd like to see the model glossary generated as part of the html documentation.

General Board / Re: Guidelines for Complexity Factors when estimat

Thanks for all the help guys.  I eventually got fed up looking for other people's help on google.  There seems to be a lot of people doing studies about the process or case studies, but I can't find anybody that has tried to put some objective measures on the factors.

I've been using the EA tool for about 2 or three years now, so I just posted up the approach I use on my blog hoping to get some comments about where I've gone wrong.

Take a peek at http://mrmx.blogspot.com/2005/06/cf-software-estimation-part-3-working.html
if you feel like commenting or sharing your experience.

I was afraid of that.  It would be nice if we had some definitions of what Karner was actually thinking about when he came up with his categories.  Without some objective guidelines, it's probably next to impossible to compare estimates between organizations using this approach.

I mean, how do you measure a team's Motivation?  I've been using a level of overtime that team members are willing to put in and then adjusting it with a whole host of other factors.  It's difficult to maintain consistancy beween estimates.  Oh well, maybe somebody will write a white paper about it.

General Board / Guidelines for Complexity Factors when estimating

Has anybody found any reference guidelines for figuring out how to assign values to the TCF and ECF figures?

I've been able to find assistance on most of the TCF values by looking at the corresponding factors used in calculating Function Points.  I haven't been able to find any assistance on the ECF values.

ECF values are pretty subjective at face value.  It would be great if there were a set of objective guidelines for them.  For example, application experience could be the average number of years per developer working with the language.

I can't imagine how you would objectively determine Motivation levels.

Is there anyway to "encourage" the autolayout feature to keep the diagrams to one page wide? ???

Thanks, I've been looking for that. :o

How do you change the diagram that is opened when you open a project?  Is this also the same diagram that shows first when you create the html documentation?

Is there a way to get the code generator to recognize classes stereotyped as tables at the package level?  I can't seem to get them to appear in the list of classes to be processed.

I think adding ColdFusion as a language type would be awsome.  I don't think there is any product that can round-trip ColdFusion Components.

:o I've been using this thing all day and it's great.  I just generated about 1200 lines of code in about 20 seconds.  This would have taken a couple of days normally.

Of course I still have to fish though it all and flesh it out, but the tedium is gone.

Is anybody working on one of these for Actionscript yet?

I just posted a link to my MDG file for ColdFusion on my blog @ http://mrmx.blogspot.com/2005/03/cfc-generator-for-enterprise-architect.html

Please let me know if there is more that I can do to it.

I'm eagerly looking forward to looking into the reverse engineering possibilities in a future version of EA.

This works great!  ;D

If you add a language to EA, how do you get it to use the proper file extensions during code generation?

FWIW, I'm looking forward to this feature as well.  We'd like to be able to use EA to synchronize our ColdFusion component model.
