Suggestions and Requests / Re: Find diagrams with model Search
« on: June 24, 2008, 05:46:19 pm »
Hi Simon,

ea_guid AS CLASSGUID was the cosmic hint. Thank you. Perhaps there is also a solution for using placeholder like in standard model search filter? We could always set the uid in the where clause, but it would be more comfortable just enter a search term in the search dialog.

Best regards

Suggestions and Requests / Find diagrams with model Search
« on: June 23, 2008, 07:13:21 pm »
Hi,

we have a lot of Worddocs containing references to EA-Diagrams. For maintaining purposes it would be very helpful, if EA would provide a possibility in model search to find diagrams by its UID or at least by its name. SQL search is not very comfortable because it offers no possibility for navigation, locating diagram in project browser, etc.

Suggestions and Requests / State for diagram
« on: June 23, 2008, 06:52:53 pm »
It is possible to set each UML-Elements state via its property dialog. It would be very helpful if we could assig a state to a diagram too. It would be much easier for us to maintain our workflows (modelling, review, etc.)  with this feature.

Suggestions and Requests / Version Control and and shared packages
« on: January 16, 2007, 03:00:32 am »
Hello,

We have 2 EA-Projects "P1" and "P2". Both of the projects share one package named "common". We put "common" under Version Control. We open "P1", check out "common" and add a class to a diagram. Now we close "P1" and open "P2". The package "common" which is also used by this project is marked as checked out. If we would execute a checkin on Package "common" now, we would loose any change we made in "P1".
(see http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=general;action=display;num=1168870718 )

I think this is a big methodic gap in EA because it strongly restricts the use of shared components in a complex software environment.

Our suggestion is that a checkin should only be possible in the EA-Project were checkout was made. So if user "U1" checks out package "common" in "P1", the checkin can be made only in project "P1" by user "U1".

We appreciate any short term solution for our problem.
Thanx in advance Armin.

Suggestions and Requests / Inconsistent hyperlink names in diagrams
« on: July 24, 2006, 02:29:23 am »
Hi,

if I'm referencing a diagram by a hyperlink and change the name of the diagram, the hyperlinktext will not change.
Bug or feature??

Suggestions and Requests / Re: delete unused elements
« on: July 18, 2006, 12:41:50 am »
Hi,

there's an easy way to delete unused elements. Press CTRL+F, select search "Find Orphans", run search and select those items in the resultlist you want to delete. Right MouseClick -> delete selected items.....

Suggestions and Requests / Search in Linked Documents
« on: July 17, 2006, 01:29:50 am »
Hello world,

I found this topic twice, but there was no answer. So here`s another try. When I search the model with CTRL+F I find no possibility to search in linked documents. So if there are many linked documents perhaps information will be lost for ever..... :o

Any idea? ???

Suggestions and Requests / Fullscreen mode for Diagram View
« on: June 29, 2006, 01:29:07 am »
Hi.. one more suggestion...

Most tools usable for creating diagrams offers the possibility for working with diagrams in fullscreen mode. I think this would be a usefull feature for EA too.

Thats the way I do it... But there is a big problem:
You put a link in your document and close it.
Later you reopen the document again and, for what reason ever, the linked file is missing. If you now modify the document (e.g. typing a character) and close it, all broken links in the document will be lost for ever! :'(. Thats why a think a direct reference into the model would be much better....

Hi...

During the process of modelling we create some documents which describe our model from different points of view. For that we use custom diagrams and putting some Document Artifacts in it.
In the underlying rtf documents there is often the necessity to show diagrams which we are specifying. It would be a nice feature if EA would provide a possibility to insert direct references into the model.

Hi,

I'm missing the context menu item "Select in Project Browser" when right clicking in diagrams.

Suggestions and Requests / Re: Link notes to connection links
« on: June 30, 2006, 12:20:05 am »
Thanks for the hint.... but I think life would be a little easier if the way you have to attach notes would be the same as attaching notes to any other element  ;)

Suggestions and Requests / Link notes to connection links
« on: June 29, 2006, 02:25:07 am »
Hi,

for documentation purposes it would be usefull to link notes to connection links.

That's a possibility to handle my problem, but to use different symbols in the tree for the model element and the link to that element (diagram representation) and show them as subnodes of the diagram would be nice too. For example it would be easier for me to check diagramm content for completeness or move respectively copy element links to other diagrams.

Yes, thats right.  :)
