General Board / Is there any manual in PDF format?
« on: November 01, 2010, 11:34:47 pm »
Hi!

Is there any PDF (or similar) with all information in
http://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/8.0/index.html website?

I ask this question because I always prefer a more "traditional" manual, something like a book instead of a website.

Thanks in advance.

General Board / Statecharts to Objective-C
« on: October 24, 2010, 06:36:02 am »
Hi!

Is there any way to generate a statechart code for Objective-C?
I'm modeling a character in a video game (iPhone) using a statechart (nested and parallel states).
Otherwise, should I write a plugin or something similar?

Thanks

General Board / Numbering requirements with REQ001
« on: October 24, 2010, 06:42:17 am »
Hi!

I see in help and docs that all requirements have this kind of name:

"REQ001 - Manage Inventory"

I wonder if I have to write "REQ001" or is there any way to create it automatically.

Thanks.

Not even close.

You can safely ignore any references to Tomcat or JBoss unless they are what you want to work with.

EA can generate, reverse engineer and debug Java code without any of those frameworks.

Of course, if you want to use them, EA will not save you from needing to learn about them.

Thanks for repley!

If I ignore all references to application servers, how can I deploy apps using Java and EA? Thanks.

That page is referring to debugging of Java code running in those environments.  Neither is necessary for general EA use.

Do you mean that I have to move/copy what EA generates  inside  an application server as Tomcat or JBoss without knowing anything about Struts/Spring?

Thanks for reply.

General Board / About MDA and Java frameworks.

Hi mates!

At the moment I'm reading docs about EA but still not used it.
I've been working with Java SE some years, but never with J2EE.
So, maybe my question has no sense. Let's do it...

After reading this website, I'm a bit confused:
http://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/software_development/debugging_java_web_servers.html
That website talks about two application servers; JBOSS and Tomcat (well this one is an almost application server).

If I use a model driven approach to create a system, and then generate its source code in java, have I to know something about j2ee frameworks as struts or spring, or just about application servers?

Thanks  a lot.

General Board / How do you create user interfaces (GUI) ?
« on: August 27, 2010, 10:43:19 am »
Hi all! Nice to meet you :)

Absolutly new to this tool and modelling.

I didn't find anything about "GUI" or "User Interface" on this forum.

Can anyone tell how can I create user interfaces or GUIs with this tool?

Thanks in advance.
Ricardo.
