Ok I just spent the better part of the day creating requirements in RaQuest, and creating a relationship matrix between my requirements - TEST001 is related to PART001 for example. Now when I open the project in EA, how can I see those relationships? Surely I do NOT have to recreate them!!!

When I ipen the *.EAP file I created in RaQuest in EA, I see an RaQuest package in EA, with package ##RaQuestInfo##, and then packages Trash and Work underneath that. Underneat Work, I see the Relationship maps I created in RaQuest.

I got the impression that ChrisF wanted a 'make a model any model' tutorial. But the more business-task oriented tutorials are also a Good Thing. Again, a formal feature request might help give them a brighter spot on the radar.
(snip)

I was creating a project with Requirements, Use Case, and Class models - I got that much out of the link above. But I struggled learning how to add requirements under the Requirements Model, same for the use cases under the Use Case Model (I've not gotten further enough for the classes under the Class Model). But now I'm trying to figure out how to "link" my Requirements and Use Case models together for example. Such a tutorial will be great, and it doesn't have to include these particular models, except maybe the requirements model since, IMHO, projects should include requirements.

I've looked at the great online tutorials from Sparx. However, I don't see one that starts from a "blank page" and then goes though the motions of creating a project, and then adding models, packages, diagrams, etc.The online manual is too detailed for this purpose. If there is an online tutorial that does this please post the link.  I am UML-literate, but not EA literate. Thanks.

Seems EA handles requirements specifications already. What advantages would there be in using RaQuest also?

Bugs and Issues / Can NOT delete requirement(s) in RaQuest

Or can I? If so how?

I right-click on a newly-created requirement either on the browser or list window and the Delete option is greyed out? I had to open the project up in EA to be able to delete it.

Bugs and Issues / RaQuest Relationship Maps do not show Package ID
« on: December 09, 2009, 03:01:06 am »
I have RaQuest v3.2.

I assigned package ID's to my requirements packages - TEST for Test Requirements, PART for Part Requirement package. I built a relationship between, say, TEST001 to PART001 from each requirement package. Now if I right-click->Show Relationship Map on the TEST001 requirement, the boxes in the map just shows REQ001 and REQ001 (yes 2 REQ001s). Shouldn't they show the assigned package ID's?

Furthermore, audits flag as 001 being duplicated, but it shouldn't since I have different package ID's. This is probably a sympton of the same issue.

Uml Process / End-to-end modeling
« on: December 09, 2009, 12:23:29 pm »
I'm not new to UML but new to EA. After I capture my requirements, what is "a" logical (not "the" logical, since there may be more than one) of modeling the system to meet the requirements. Do you start with use cases, then class diagrams, then...? I realize this may be iterative too. What's your process?

Uml Process / Modeling an abstract project?
« on: December 08, 2009, 06:24:51 am »
I want to model a generic project that can then be used by specific projects of the generic project type. For example, I want model the parts and actions to build a car - body, engine, transmission, and wheels for parts, and move forward, move backward, and stop for actions, to make it simple. So I have 4 parts and 3 actions.

Now I want to use this generic model to build a Cadilac. And then use the same generic model to build a Corvette. You can see how the two specific models share a LOT of commonality from the abstract model, but will need their own specific tweaks.

Does EA support this? Do I just create a generic EA model, and then use that as a "template" for the specific models?

So once you define your requirements in RaQuest, including dependency matrix, you can then use this info in EA correct? How?
