Suggestions and Requests / [tagged value] in project browser element context

hej,
could someone give me a hint how i can pu a tagged value on an element in the project browser view
* in the context menu of an element there is no element specific operation available in the add menu (only adding new diagrams ??)
* i found in the tagged values window a button to add a value
* but still i would like to have it in the context menu

hej,
this is a very small cosmetic issue:
* i cannot find any possibility to change the fill-color of generalization triangle (arrow) and the aggregation diamond
=> the "fill color" is greyed out when i try to apply it to such kinds of associations
=> the color of these "guys" is always the default color, which somehow looks nasty if a consistent color code is applied in a diagram

is there any workaround - or is this a feature request ?

hej,
we are maintaining a system overview (component) diagram, which shows our complete enterprise system. we are currently implementing (based on an xmi export) some kind of complexity metric calculation (efferen, afferent connections)
* but i think it would be very easy for the tool itself to show the number of connections which go out or inside a component
* do you think it would be possible to have such capabilities built into the tool ?

hej,
honestly - now i am a little bit confused:
* as jan wrote - this capability is already inside EA - i tried it and - voila i can choose the direction of the label - and it also draws the expected "triangle" thing :-)
* so what do you guys now mean with this shape script ??
* and i am also not sure whether it should be possible to have 2 labels for both directions (i am neither sure whether this is uml compliant, nor whether i have seen something - but i feels somehow natural to have both directions annotated with the directions semantic)

is it possible (and if not this would be a feature request) to incorporate this "solid black filled triangle" (some UML books show this) to state the read direction of the name of an association ?

hej,
yes - i know the emf format - works fine if you stay in a windows world - but (un)fortunately we here have also macs and linux guys, who are not capable of consuming EA diagrams due to the fact that the emf/wmf is restricted to the windows world

hej,
i would like to see an export of a diagram into some vectorbased format like svg => in case of big diagrams this would make zooming in and out much more meaningful, as currently exported diagrams (png, jpg) are not that nice

we did the check with the eap file locally on the same machine where ea is installed.
* ok - i assume as local eap is based on something like an access like db this could be slower
* our mssql installation is on local network, connected via 1gbit
=> the local cpu where the diagram is opened is consuming nearly 100% of resources for the ea process

hej,
we use a mssql based ea repository - but as i have already stated - this cannot be the source of the problem, as we already exported this one big diagram into a local eap file and checked that - but it did not change anything in respect of slowliness ;-)
* are there any switches to turn on for large diagrams ?
* any hint would be appreciated !

hej,
we are maintaining a system overview diagram (component diagram) which includes around 150 components and really lots of connectors (information flows) between them.
* on moving and selecting elements on this diagram it reacts extremly slow (e.g. selecting an element takes up to 3 seconds)
* we already tried moving the stuff from our RDBMS based repository to a local eap file => did not improve anything
* we are running the thing on a dual core machine with sufficient ram (2gb) - so this should not be the issue

=> does anyone have some ideas, feedback, similar experiences about BIG diagrams ?

hej,
following issue:
* i want to add some images into the existing image library
* it works to get the images out the lib with a base64 decoder
* then i update them with e.g. photoshop
* then i try to save them as png-8 with transparency
* encode base64
* and paste them as image code into the lib xml

=> but the transparency is gone - there is still a white background which looks pretty ugly

=> anyone any hints to get the transparency work ?

hmm .. you metioned to "export" image from within EA - i would like to do that - but i do not see any possibility ?
* especially it would be very helpful to be able to modify the existing image library pix !
* this would be great

hej,
it seems that the capability to define an alternate image for an element is bound to the diagram where this is applied. i would need this alternate image bound to the element.
my use case here is an architectural model where i draw several views where all elements use your (in fact very pretty image library) - but it is a pain to reassociate the same element to the same image for each diagram...

maybe there is already a solution ?

* for printout reasons you are right - but i am thinking on a during construction on the screen it would be very helpful
* also iamgine the usecase when you have a diagram which you show to someone
** first you only see the basic/constituent elements (layer 1)
** then you switch on the layer 2 which shows the note elements
** then you just switch off layer 2 and switch on layer 3 which e.g. shows some details in a special area of the diagramm

and so on ...
