In this post I asked about such a keyboard shortcut. Someone posted a reference to this old feature request.

Hi!

I often have a lot of windows in EA. Mostly because I have huge activities split into multiple diagrams via sub-activities (actions as composite elements).

Following features would be *very* helpful for overview and navigation between them:
  • An option to customize where a window is included within the window list/bar at the bottom when I open it via clicking a composite element:
    • On the right-hand side end in the list (as it is now)
    • Next to the current window where I click into the composite element.
  • After I opened a new window/diagram with the content of the composite element: a keyboard shortcut to get back to the last diagram (where the composite element is). If the new window would be included right next to the first tab, the existing "ALT+LEFT" would do the trick.
  • Possibility to change the order of window tabs in the bar (via drag and drop with the mouse). As you can do in Mozilla Firefox, for example.

Suggestions and Requests / Command ElementMoveUp missing
« on: February 15, 2006, 04:07:01 am »
Hi all!

there are commands ElementMoveDown, ElementMoveLeft, ElementMoveRight. But no ElelemtMoveUp!

I recognized because I wondered why ctrl+up behaves differently from ctrl+down etc.

So what I miss: I want to be able to move marked elements in a diagram with keyboard shortcut ctrl+up, just like ctrl+down to move them down.

I started a thread in the general forum first...

Regards, Peter

PS: I'm using EA 5.00.772, licensed corp. edition.

General Board / Open composite sub-diagram with keyboard?
« on: January 12, 2011, 01:18:52 am »
Hi all,

I can open the sub-diagram of a composite element with a mouse double click. Is there a keyboard shortcut to do this as well? I was not able to find one.

I know I can assign my own shortcuts in EA, but what would be the command name?

Best regards,
Peter

General Board / Easy way to change requirement status?
« on: December 11, 2010, 03:38:03 am »
Hi all,

in order to change the status, I have to select each requirement element, open the properties, and choose a new status from the drop down list.

Is there an easier, faster way to do this? A way to get this into the context menu, or a keyboard shortcut? And a possibility to change multiple elements together?

Thanks! Peter

To keep this topic on the agenda:

I also desperately wait for these features. Navigating through diagrams with multiple composite elements is really annoying!

I believe I've recently seen a question/request about this issue also. But maybe it's just a deja vu.
Would like it ...

Günther

OMG I'm having the same deja vu as you are having. They must have changed something in the Matrix!  8-)

Geert

Before I posted I tried to find some info in the forum, of course. I was not successful. So if anybody knows which topic already covered this, could you post a link?

General Board / Switch between diagrams of composite element
« on: November 11, 2009, 02:19:25 am »
Hi all!

When I create a composite element (an activity), a double click on it opens a new diagram window. Is there a way to get back from this window to the first one (with a keyboard shortcut)?

Also, is it possible to customize that the new window will be opened next to the first window, and not appear at the end of all the windows (in the bar below).

General Board / how to move part of a diagram into a new diagram?
« on: July 16, 2009, 11:07:43 pm »
Hi all!

When an activity diagram gets too big I would like to move parts of it into a new diagram. I want to create a new activity in the current diagram which links to the new diagram (as composite element).

Is there any function for this in EA?

Until now I do this manually:
- create new composite activity element
- select all elements to be moved in current diagram
- copy
- open new diagram by double clicking composite element
- paste as new elements
- delete in first diagram

But then I have to re-create all the flow arrows again :-(

General Board / Re: Install EA version 6.5 and 7 in parallel?

Hi David!

Actually, there was a fairly good explanation posted in the forum (somewhere). The problem is that it can be difficult to search the forum, and even more difficult to find anything.
It always depends on if you think of the right search terms. So it's not always easy to find what you're looking for :-)

You said 7.1 and 7.5. Is that by accident, or did you mean that it would only work with different 7.x versions?

I use the older version 6.5 currently, and I can get (in my company) 7.1. Don't know about 7.5 (concerning license).

Maybe 6.x and 7.x differ in registry entries, for example.

General Board / Install EA version 6.5 and 7 in parallel?

Hi all,

can I install EA version 7.1 on Windows XP without uninstalling my current version 6.5? Is it enough to use another installation directory for the new version, or do they interfere in the registry, for example.

In the forum I only found someone asking about parallel installation of different 7.x versions. And there was no good solution for this.

General Board / Open multiple projects at the same time?
« on: April 06, 2009, 09:12:31 pm »
Hi all,

is there a way to open multiple projects in one EA instance? I did not find one. So I open a new EA instance and open the other project there.

General Board / Re: Attach note to link: hochange the connecting l
« on: July 21, 2006, 05:13:08 am »
Thanks!

That works, although it's not perfect. You can't really define where the connection line points to. More a trial and error method :-)

General Board / Attach note to link: hochange the connecting line?
« on: July 21, 2006, 04:50:58 am »
Hi,

to comment a link, I use "Attach Note or Contraint..." from the context menu.

This creates a note and connects it to the link. I want to change the point where the connecting line hits the link (for layout reasons only). Is this possible? How?

Thanks a lot, Peter

PS: I use EA version 5.00.772 build 772

Oops, you meant a search for "Unique Interface" I guess :-)
