General Board / Creating own toolbox

Hello all!

I'm busy with my graduation project and looking for a way to create my own toolbox. I have used elements and connectors from several modelling techniques and want to show only the relevant elements and connectors. Can anyone help me getting this done?

General Board / Relation between diagram frames?

When copying two diagram frames on another diagram, the relation between the elements on the frames  is not visible. ANy ideas on how to get this done>?

There's a great function called RTF documentation, right click on your diagram -> documentation -> Diagrams only report.

Or by using the HTML output, then the diagram is exported as PNG or GIF and then you can just insert it to word. Although this option will cause loss of quality of the image.

Another option is to put the parts of all diagrams on different 'pages' in your diagram and print it to a PDF or the standard Microsoft Image Writer (TIFF) printer .

My guess is that the other files are not needed to be updated.

As you can see at the start page of the registered part of the site the following files certainly have been updated;

Latest Version of Enterprise Architect
Full Version 7.5 - Build 845 : Posted 28-May-2009
Patch Build 7.5 - Build 845 : Posted 28-May-2009

But indeed at the download page there is no note at the download of the patch file, although it is updated (just tried that one .

Hello,

I have two questions.

1. When I create an HTML output from EA, the project browser is also outputted to HTML.  Is there any way to create a HTML output without the project browser?

2. My second question is regarding using connectors in EA.  When I have one connector cross another, is there any way to identify that the connectors are crossing each other?  Ex. In visio they use a bump in the connector as if the connector is jumping over the other.

Your second question was also one of my needs. However I indeed got the answer that this is not supported at this moment. Just lay in a feature request, maybe they'll add it to the next release.

You could try to resize it with; Diagram -> Properties -> Diagram -> Page Setup and then scale it in the Advanced section to whatever size you want .

Is it possible to export a relationship matrix profile from one project for use in another?

I'm trying to create a general relationship matrix to be used by all of our projects.  Creating a profile that I can export/import across our project s would be ideal but I cannot see how to do it.

Since it is not really possible to export the relationship matrix, the matrix is based on the elements modelled in your project and the relationships between them. So either you will have to merge the projects you want a report of or you export all matrices you want to export to a CSV file and import them in Excel or another reporting program.

General Board / The 'View' phenomenon

I'm curious if the following is possible. Since that would save me a lot of time.

The situation;

• I have one diagram with over 200 Activity elements and around 90 Information Item elements (used my own way of modelling, combination of BPMN, ArchiMate and Information Items from the Object Modelling)
• Activity elements follow each other up with the SequenceFlow connector
• Activity elements can send information items to other activity elements using the Information Flow
• One activity element can have a connection with the information item with three possible connectors; ArchiMate_Realisation (create), ArchiMate_Access (read), ArchiMate_UsedBy (update).

This diagram has all of the mentioned elements modelled on it. Now I'd like to know whether it is possible to create 'views' on this diagram so I can show *all* Information Flows together with Sequence Flows, or ArchiMate_Access, ArchiMate_UsedBy, Archimate_Realisation or any other combination.

I already have used the Visible relations dialog, however this takes ages for me to show the required information with this amount of connectors . Does anyone have an idea how to do this?

I think you can't, since that's the navigation pane of the HTML report. But if it is possible, it should edited in the HTML template.

Hello!

Is there any option in EA to scale your print like in MS Excel in order to get a given diagram, which has two pages however only 1 object is shown at the 2nd page, on one page?

Hi Neo,

Thx for the tip, however when I try to install the tool I immediately get an error which 'should be sent (or not) to Microsoft'. After that I do get the success message from the registry editor. But the option is unfortunately not appearing in EA.

Is there a way  to manual install the tool?
