Suggestions and Requests / Control Version by element
« on: February 21, 2007, 11:36:47 am »
I want to suggest a new EA functionality:
To enable EA to do Control Version by Element, not only by Package as we have now!!!!
Does anyone share the same necessity as me???

Suggestions and Requests / Users that create and change diagrams/elements
« on: September 21, 2006, 01:00:11 pm »
Hi,

We need that EA register the create and change user by each element/diagram. EA only has the create and change date. The author is changeable, so it's not usefull in this case.
Using the version control, this information is by package.

General Board / Re: How could I represent a element twice???

I solve it representing the class as object. EA can find the source class from object, using CTRL-ALT-G (Find/Locate Classifier in Project Browser).

Thank you all!!!

Hi,
We customize EA in order to represent "Services" on SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), and we're using the Class Element because of attributes and operations that can easily translated to our need.
Some services has workflows, and we've activities diagrams that we represent activities, transformations and services calls.
And the problem is exactly on it: represent this service twice!!!

It's look like a bug to me...
I suggest you to contact Sparx Support to confirm it...

Hi,
I cannot see any problems on this...
To do a test, try to reverse the Source and Target and look if it's ok, or the problem still happening...

General Board / Printing a Matrix Relationship when Oracle
« on: April 17, 2007, 05:00:19 am »
Hi,
I would like to know if there is someone that is having the same problem as me...   ???

- We're creating relationships between elements using the Relationship Matrix functionality. For example: Relationships between Requirements and Use Cases.
- Then, to support this as report, we're creating some VBA macros that can read these relationships and them print it in Word as a User Acceptance Document.
- The command we're using is the "realizes" (eaElem.Realizes.GetAt)

Now, the problem: When we run it in an EAP repo, works fine... But when I run it on ORACLE database, EA cannot get elements using this relationship! Same Oracle content exported to EAP works perfectly on EAP, but not on Oracle!

Help me!!!!!!   :'(

Hi Daas,
I don't think there is a directly connection between EA and Mercury...
Here, we're development the connection between an internal Test Tool, via VBA...

Hi Paolo,

Thank you for the explanation, but I still cannot realize this new package structure, I can only see 1 package per EA element!  ???

My main doubt is not only for the Project Documentation, but for the Product Documentation as well.
In governance concept, the information has to be visible and reusable, and I cannot find how to realize it using EA.

Could you give an example of what is your concept of package structure?
For example, supposing I've a Project A, what structure of packages you suggest? How do you generate the branch and reuse for other projects? To simplify, use the sample for classes elements...
Thanks!
Carol

Hi Paolo,

Even if I separate the project using the XMI Import/Export, how can you manage each class element into the appropriate version?
For example, in the same package there is a Class in version 2 and a another Class in version 5! How could I replect it into EA + Version Control Tool?

Regards,
Carol
