General Board / Offline use of a shared model
« on: August 12, 2004, 06:57:57 pm »
I'm probably missing something really obvious, but what is the best way to make offline changes on a database backed shared model. From the help it seems replication is the right strategy, but even logged in as admin I'm seeing the tools->manage eap file menu as completely greyed out. What am I missing?

cheers

Thanks for the speedy response. I was running 4.00.729, and have now upgraded to the latest version, which fixed the problem.

General Board / Starting EA and having problem

I'm an experienced Rose user trialling EA for an environment that cannot support the cost of Rational tools.

I've started by making a few simple diagrams, and I already have an error.  Within Logical model I created a new diagram, say titled diagram A. The Diagram shows a few nested packages, describing packages and interfaces to be found within a 3 tier J2EE project. In the Project View explorer, the diagram name has become the name of the package below it. So I see <<framework>> Data Tier as the name of the diagram. If I open the properties dialogue for the diagram, the name returns to "diagram A" in the explorer, but when I open the properties for the Data Tier package, the glitch returns. In any case the Data Tier package never shows the <<framework>> stereotype.

At this stage I'm feeling pretty nervous about purchasing EA Licenses and putting a lot of work into a model that will be captured in EA. Have I gone wrong somewhere?
