General Board / HTML notes

Hello,
We would like to use the element notes field for HTML documentation (derived from MS-Word converted to HTML). However it seems that the notes field does not fully support HTML- only Bold,Underline,Italicize, lists and color are available. Is this truly the case or is there something we are missing?
We have looked at the possibility of using the linked document RTF capability but we would prefer our users to not have to go through additional steps to view the linked documentation. Is there some way to have the notes panel by default view the linked RTF document?
If we ultimately convert our HTML to RTF and store it as a linked document is there a way to put a hyperlink in the note field to bring up the RTF editor? (instead of ctrl-alt-D for example). Or is there some way to emulate the ctrl-alt-D key sequence as a hyperlink to open the linked RTF documentation?
In summary, we are looking to represent more complex notes for documentation on elements, but we want to simplify ease of use for our end users. We would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Thanks,
Ron Pasquarelli
