Automation Interface, Add-Ins and Tools / Re: Alternate image in MDG
« on: July 07, 2010, 07:32:55 pm »
Hi,

I have come across a similar problem with alternative images.  I found that if when creating the MDG technology file you select the images used in the shape scripts when you get to the images dialogue, that if you just copy the MDG xml file into the MDGTechnologies directory it works.  I have had some slightly odd behaviour is I imported the tehcnology and put it into thedirectory so now just copy the xml files into the directory.

Hi there,

I have encountered a problem where I create a shapescript which is associated with a stereotype of a class in a UML profile.  When I test this by exporting the profile and creating an MDG technology and then drag and drop one of the stereotyped elements onto a diagram, the alternative shape is displayed fine.  If however I close the project and reopen, it displays the default class symbol rather than the custom shape - it's like the suctom shape has been forgotten.  The object is still picking up the appropriate stereotype just not the shapescript!  Has anyone else encountered this problem or know how to fix it?

Thanks
Em (newbie!)

To define "nicer" shapes I mean more than just a cloud, perhaps using curved edges to rectangle, or using an image in a subshape, having graduated shading etc.  I tried searching for example scripts but was really looking for a hadnful of compelte scripts I could adapt rather than trying to extract small sections from teh forum.

Hi, I am a newbie to EA and am trying to create a custom framework for business modelling.  I've follwoed the white paper on MDG technologies and created custom objects, diagrams and toolboxes - I'm now looking to do 2 things:

1. Customise the properties dialogue so when I double click on a stereotyped object (for example a "strategy" object which is a class stereotype), the properties dialogue that is shown is customised to add information about the staretgy (not the standard uml stuff).  Can anyone advise how to do this?

2. Customise the shapes - Inderstand I need to use shape scripts to do this and had a play with the examples in the help file but would like some nicer looking examples - can anyone share sopme of their scripts to get me started?

Thanks
Emma
