Ribbon > Start > Search > Search in Model.  Third icon after the Go arrow to get to the SQL Scratch Pad.
Thanks! I got stuck in the Database Builder SQL Scratch pad.
Much appreciated.

You can try

Code: [Select]
SELECT * FROM t_glossary
from the SQL Scratch Pad and then copy and paste the results of that.

This sounds good, but I'm getting the error: "The DB Builder is note connected to a Data Model. Please connect and try again".
I know I've done this easily before but it's been awhile and I am still pretty lost with the ribbon (and I like ribbons).
Any help appreciated.
Has this changed much since V12? I seem to recall it was all much clearer and easier (but I could be wrong...)
In particular, I'm on this page: http://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/13.0/model_domains/dbconnection.html
and I'm lost trying to follow the instructions. Like, how do I execute steps 2 and 3. I don't see where or how that is done.
I also do not see any mention of how to connect to my model, which is under SVN source control so there is a bunch of files.

You can export the glossary through a document template, which means you can save it as a document fragment to include:
Create a template
Expand "Model" and select "Glossary"
Right click where it says and insert glossary fields - you'll want at least Term and Meaning; you might want Type.
Thanks for this. I'll try it out.

Thanks! Much appreciated.
Bummer about that first column missing though...kind of a critical part!

General Board / Glossary Export?

Is there a way to export the Glossary to a csv or similar type file? I would like to include the contents in a paper I'm writing, but I don't see a way to get at the data.

General Board / Composite (?) Component Question
« on: February 25, 2017, 08:51:23 am »
Hi all,

I have a component with included sub-components. I want to display compartments in the containing component, along with the sub-components.
However, when I try this, the sub-components either obscure the operations (the compartment I want to show) or they have to appear below the operation.
I thought (hoped), that there would be room above the compartment to hold and display the sub-components.
Does anyone have an idea on how to do this?
(We've spoken about using Shape Script, but I'd like to avoid that if possible).
Thanks,
Stu

General Board / Re: Create Tasks NOT associated with an element?

.. but I want to easily see all issues regardless of what element they are attached to. I would then want to filter by fields (status, assigned to, etc).
I think Gantt view is what you're after..

Thanks, but no. I'm not looking to do Proj Mgmt with this.
I really just want a way to keep track of issues/tasks that I need to do.
I'd like to do it without looking for an element to attach it to.
It seems like it is not available, but I thought I had it in earlier versions.

I'm not sure I understand the conversation here, but EA provides two types of task.

1)  In Project Management, you can create tasks (and other maintenance items) as a component of the element, to record and manage work on that element.
2)  Through the Maintenance Toolbox you can create project-level task elements (and Issue, Change, Test and Defect elements) to record work and various types of constraint on the project, whether specific or general or even vague, if appropriate.

Isn't the second type of task what you are after?
Thanks, RoyC.
I hadn't thought of using the Maintenance toolbox elements.
What I am really wanting is a window like what I see when I am assigning issues or tasks to an element, but I want to easily see all issues regardless of what element they are attached to. I would then want to filter by fields (status, assigned to, etc).
Does that make sense?

This is a really great idea! That's exactly what I'm going to do.
Thanks for your help,

General Board / Create Tasks NOT associated with an element?
« on: February 22, 2017, 05:22:01 am »
Hi all,

I would like to use the Tasks feature of EA to keep track of things I want to do in the model. I would like these to be "general" tasks in that they are not associated with a particular element, but are really attached to the model as a whole.
Is there a way to do that or something similar?
As I work on my model, thoughts come to mind that I want to capture for later inclusion in the model, but they may not have an associated element (yet).
All ideas appreciated.
Thanks,
Stu

General Board / Re: Losing Data!?!?

You need to select the same element which had the context before you clicked elsewhere, for the issues to reappear.
Thank you! Mystery Solved.

General Board / Losing Data!?!?
« on: February 10, 2017, 11:18:06 am »
Hi, I believe I am losing Issue and task data. I entered a task yesterday and it is now gone. I figured perhaps I did something wrong and went to enter a few issues today. I entered two issues and saved them via the Disk icon on the Issues Window. I clicked elsewhere and the issues disappeared. I don't see a way to retrieve them.
I am using Build 1309 Ultimate Edition.
Any ideas?

General Board / Archimate 3 Support?

Hi all,

Is support for Archimate 3 planned in V13 (or road mapped in some other future release)?

Thanks!
